Sharpham Vineyard & Cheese Dairy near Totnes has long been considered one of Devon’s special places to visit, not only because of its spectacular location on the warm southern slopes above the meandering River Dart, but also because of it’s international award winning wines and hand made cheeses.
Located in a magical position on the banks of the River Dart, the Estate’s twelve thousand vines bask in the warmth of the sheltered southern slopes, one of the factors contributing to Sharpham’s ever-growing tally of both national and international awards. ‘Great wines result from the happy marriage of soil, climate and grape variety. Nature has given us a great location and through years we have ensured that we grow only those grapes which truly suit our site.’
Also located at the vineyard is the renown ‘Vineyard Café’ providing alfresco style eating on a small scale, with stunning views over-looking the River Dart.
Opening times:
Easter until Christmas Eve, Monday to Saturday from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Open seven days a week during May, June, July, August and September. Sharpham Vineyard is located just outside the village of Ashprington near Totnes, simply follow the brown signs from the A381 Totnes to Dartmouth road.
Adult admission starts at just £4.95 and includes a complementary wine tasting. Access is possible by boat but is tide dependant.
